aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2021\" aria-expanded=\"false\">FERPA \u2013 Students\u2019 Right to Know<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2021\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2021\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"false\"><h4><strong> FERPA \u2013 Students\u2019 Right to Know<br \/><\/strong><\/h4><p>Each year, Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico informs the students about the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act enacted in 1974 (FERPA). This Law, with which the University will totally comply, was designed to protect the privacy of students\u2019 academic records, to establish the students\u2019 rights to inspect and review their educational records, and to provide guides in cases where incorrect or misleading information must be corrected through formal or informal hearings. Students will also have the right to file complaints concerning alleged failure by the University in complying with the Law.<\/p><p>Our institutional policy explains in detail the procedure which Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico will follow to comply with the provisions of the Law. This policy can be found in the Library, in the Reference section. There the Institutional Regulations to Protect the Students\u2019 Right to Privacy may be found.<\/p><p>Questions related to this Law will be referred to the Vice Presidency of Innovation and Student Services. The student who files a complaint and who considerers that the decision granted has been unfair, or does not conform with the dispositions within the Law, may request in writing the mediation of the Vice Presidency of Innovation and Student Services. As an additional recourse, the student who considers that his\/her rights have been violated can file a complaint with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Office, Department of Education, Office 4074, Switzer Building, Washington, D.C. 20201. This complaint must be related to alleged deficiencies incurred by Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in complying with FERPA.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-2022\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Public Notice<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-2022\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-2022\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><h4><strong>Public Notice Designating What is Directory Information<\/strong><\/h4><p>Through these means, Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico designates the following categories of information about students as public information or Directory Information. This information may be divulged by Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico for any particular purpose, and at its discretion.<\/p><p><strong>Category I<\/strong> Name, address, telephone number, attendance date, courses.<\/p><p><strong>Category II<\/strong> Institutions previously attended, specialized fields, awards, honors (including Dean\u2019s List), and degrees obtained, including dates.<\/p><p><strong>Category III<\/strong> Present and past participation in sports and officially recognized activities, physical appearance (height, weight) of athletes, place and date of birth.<\/p><p>Students who are registered at the present time have the right to request that no information about them be divulged under FERPA. To forbid the University to divulge information, a written request must be sent to the Registrar\u2019s Office of Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico at the following address:<\/p><p>Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico P.O. Box 192017 San Juan, Puerto Rico 00919 2017<\/p><p>The form used to request that no Directory Information be divulged is found in the Registrar\u2019s Office. Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico understands that if a student does not make this request to prevent information from being divulged, the information can be made
