Gratitude and learning: reflections to close 2025 and power a purpose driven 2026.

As we close the year, it is a good time to look back and recognize not only the academic and professional achievements but also the lessons that each challenge has left us. Higher education and continuous learning not only prepare us to practice a profession but also invite us to know ourselves better, discover our potential, and learn to lead our lives with purpose.

Where we put our attention, we put our energy. Therefore, as we close 2025, it is worthwhile to reflect on what we really want to enhance: our strengths, talents, and skills, as well as our capacity to learn from mistakes and overcome obstacles. Letting go of unnecessary expectations and comparing our path to that of others allows us to live authentically and focus on what we can contribute to the professional and academic world.

As we look toward 2026, we can do so with intention and action:

  • • Focus on your talents and professional growth, applying what you have learned with coherence and passion.
  • • Learn from every challenge and turn it into an opportunity for development.
  • • Connect and share your knowledge; teaching and collaborating strengthen both others and yourself.
  • • Live in the present and celebrate every step forward, no matter how small.
  • • Define clear and realistic goals, aligned with your purpose, values, and personal growth.

Professional education and personal growth move forward together. Cultivating both allows us to build careers with purpose and lives full of learning, gratitude, and balance. This 2025 reminded us of the value of looking at what we have achieved as a university community.

We celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, as well as the opening of the Maker Space in San Juan and the Aerospace Laboratory in Orlando—spaces that drive the creativity and innovation of our students and faculty. We also commemorate 30 years of the School of Architecture, reaffirming our commitment to design, culture, and sustainable development.

As we approach a historic 2026, we prepare to celebrate six decades of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and to continue strengthening essential areas such as research, internationalization, STEM programs, and the strategic use of artificial intelligence in professional training.

Although this year presented challenges, it also opened up opportunities. Artificial intelligence and its capacity to generate, synthesize, and create invite us to evolve and develop new competencies that will define the next decade.

Concluding 2025 and welcoming 2026, we renew our commitment to moving forward with purpose, innovation, and humanity. We invite you to join us in this next chapter, one that we will build together with the conviction that education, collaboration, and creativity can transform our future. May the new year find us ready to learn, contribute, and continue growing as a community.
