Statements and/or policies on diversity, equity, and inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Diversity of the student body renders valuable support for the creative environment of an architecture school. This notion is present when considering multiple issues such as: technological or humanistic knowledge, individual research or collective work, theoretical discourse or material experimentation, and competitiveness or social responsibility.
ARQPOLI strives to promote a positive and respectful learning environment among students, faculty, and staff as stated in our Studio Culture Policy:
Evaluation and Critiques:
ARQPOLI promotes within the faculty the use of a just, fair, and objective evaluation of student works. The school believes that a clear process of critics and evaluation is the basis for identifying in the student’s areas strength, areas of progress and areas in need of further development. The school encourages individual student critique as part of the studio culture, preliminary group pin-ups and final group critics based upon an established format given to the student. The entire critique process must give the student a clear understanding of the material, guidance to continue studio works, and the necessary self-assurance to develop innate abilities to individual capacity.
The school recognizes that critiques are a necessary and integral part of the studio culture and is the principal way the faculty can evaluate the student’s works. The critic, either individual or in-group, gives the opportunity to discuss in the studio every day.
The school recognizes that critiques can be held in different forms, but always with respect, professionalism, objectivity, and ethics.
Diversity:
The open-admission policy of ARQPOLI intends to obtain the most diverse student body possible. The school believes that architectural education is a social project and that we integrate culture, demography, race, class, gender, and sexual orientation differences in our student body.
ARQPOLI believes in everyone having the opportunity, free of prejudice, to develop through action, capacity, and work in order to reach their goal in life and the profession.
