Polytechnic University is affiliate to the Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands Interuniversity Athletic League, (LAI by its Spanish acronym), that is a non-profit organization in which its objective is to regulate the sport within the institutions that are part of it. The Polytechnic University started participating in the league in 1999 using the institutional royal blue and gold colors as distinctive. Some requirements to be part of this important sport organizations are to be an accredited university institution, their students have good GPA and credits/hours required.
